At first glance, it may seem a bit odd that a CPA is a co-founder of a creative agency. What does that bring to the table you ask?
We have found that creative ideas are great, and God knows Sunshine has more ideas than can be completed in a lifetime. But a creative idea is only worthwhile if it becomes something real. Having the right kind of CPA at the table, and awesome partners, makes this happen. (Lots more on the process and our ideal clients in the future.)
The Sunshine Creative Agency uses a multi-step process.
The first is to identify the core story, by using our years of experience to find the feelings and emotion that drive people, then connect to the meaning that underlies those feelings.
This leads naturally to identifying the communication needs and the best method to connect with clients, customers, and the general public. (see here and here for more details on this)
However, Sunshine Creative Agency is more than just that. We uncover a story, communicate it, then turn it into something. That something could be a program, an event, a product, or a whole new business venture. Together, we identify how the story drives the unique selling proposition, and how that USP becomes a viable activity.
That’s where I, the CPA comes in. Sure, you say, those bean counters don’t want to do anything fun, but that simply isn’t true. We just don’t want anyone to lose their shirt in the process! Having a background in controllership, program implementation, securing funding and corporate finance, this CPA helps ensure the ideas are viable over the long term.
By applying business strategy (a little Blue Ocean anyone?) and solid financial modelling, we’re able to fully flesh out an idea and truly make something happen. My role is to help turn ideas into something actionable, and to look at options from a client perspective.
All to say, having a CPA around can make all the difference between a great idea, and a great idea becoming something out in the world.

Yours in creativity,
Linda
